A massively anticipated game and a recent awards favorite both broke new ground this week: the deckbuilding sequel Slay the Spire 2 is now available to play in early access on Steam, and the super popular Blue Prince has released on Nintendo Switch 2.
Slay the Spire is a long-time darling of the indie games world: its influence of roguelike-style deckbuilding, adjusting your deck with new cards and game-changing items over the course of a randomized run, has perhaps affected the modern videogame landscape more than any other single game.
The sequel was announced some time ago and they've kept the basic groundwork very familiar while building outwards from the solid foundation: multiple new character classes bring new angles to play and strategize from, and the surprise announcement of 2-4 player online co-op mode within the early access release has been very well received. It's still in active development, but all feedback I've heard points in the direction that the game is very far along and already feels pretty complete.
You can play Slay the Spire 2 now on Steam.
If you haven't yet taken the dive down the rabbit hole of puzzles that is Blue Prince, you may be one of the final holdouts. This part-roguelike, part-riddle-filled-labyrinth took years to develop and the effort has paid off, the game being lauded by many as one of the best games of 2025. (It even swept double Game of the Year wins in our own Thinky Awards.)
If your reason for holding out was hoping the game would make its way to your preferred handheld Nintendo system, there's been good news this week, as long as that system is the Switch 2 and not the original. The game was a surprise reveal at the end of this past week's Nintendo Indie World Showcase presentation, revealed to be launching later the same day the video went live, but it seems the decision was made to bring the game exclusively to the new generation Nintendo console, as any mention of a version for the original Switch was absent.
You can get Blue Prince on Switch 2 now, where it's currently on sale for 34% off.
