Back in December, we launched the Preview Pass for Thinky Dailies, our very own daily puzzle game with new handcrafted puzzles every day. After a really wonderful first season of puzzles, during which we received so much great feedback from our amazing community, we are now opening it up to the world - no account required, just head to over to Thinky Dailies and start solving!
If you haven't tried Thinky Dailies yet, here's the twist: you never know what kind of puzzle you'll get each day. From Sudoku to Nurikabe to visual riddles and even new puzzle types invented specifically for Thinky Dailies; it's a true adventure through puzzle-solving! Along the way, you follow the antics of our thinky hero, exploring a world full of puzzle joy. Oh, and you can catch up on previous puzzles whenever you like.
It was such a wild, experimental idea that we knew was going to come with all kinds of complexities. Not only did we need a complicated interface that would support every kind of puzzle and months worth of artisinal puzzles, story, and art, but we also had no idea if the concept would even resonate with anyone!
That's why we launched with our Preview Pass, which required our test subje... er, helpful participants to solve an entrance puzzle in order to preview the platform. That way, we could build up an initial community to help us figure out what was working, what wasn't, and just get a sense of if people were enjoying it.
Turns out, people like it! Since we launched, we've had 21,600 people join the preview and on our busiest day, 34,000 puzzles were solved. That's a whole lotta puzzle solving!
Alongside all the great feedback, we've had so many wonderful compliments, including shout-outs from Cracking the Cryptic, John and Hank Green, and Adam Millard. Folks have started YouTube series where they're solving our puzzles, and we've seen Twitch streamers getting in on the fun too!
It's been such a ride already and we're barely started! Season 2 begins next Wednesday, 4th March, so we can't wait to see how everyone enjoys the new puzzle types and the next chapter of the story. And hopefully, now that it's open to everyone, even more of your family and friends will be able to follow along.
