Our in-house database of all games thinky is always growing, and thanks to the efforts of our database editor we've recently passed the huge milestone of 1000 titles. We first launched the database back in October 2024 to group together and catalogue puzzle, strategy and all sorts of adjacent games that make you think, and in the 1.5 years since it's continually expanded with new games being added all the time.
From our hand-picked "Thinky Essentials" list to our constantly rotating feed of upcoming releases, there are lots of categories, lists and genres to discover just browsing and clicking around. It's big enough now that even I'm not familiar with every single title, meaning even members of the team are discovering new games using the database.
The Thinky DB features a powerful advanced search option that lets you sort and narrow down games using a huge variety of criteria, from difficulty level to puzzle types to what kind of vibes you're looking for. Along the way we also added the functionality to create and share your own custom collections: lists of games you can add to and link to, meaning you can create your own mini-categories or just show off your favorites or all your completed games.
Our database editor Oriane is always hard at work fleshing out new entries from our long list of recommended and upcoming titles, and recently there's been a bunch of updates to the genre categories that games are classified with, making the sifting and sorting even more specific. We've had big tags like automation games, deckbuilding and sokoban for some time, but now you can zoom in on even more niche categories such as record-and-replay games, maneuvering games and stepping games. Haven't heard of that last one? Well here's your chance to get acquainted.
As for recently added games, our team has been focused on improving the representation of quality mobile experiences in the database. Over the past few weeks there have been tons of new entries for interesting games available on your phone: some mobile classics like Cut the Rope and Threes!, a few thinky roguelikes such as Hoplite and Enyo, puzzle box games like the House of Da Vinci series, the Rusty Lake catalogue alongside some other point-and-click/escape room titles, a couple digital boardgames such as Dominion and Roll for the Galaxy as well as various other popular and recommended games. (These lists go on and on — it's hard to even give a snapshot that encompasses everything.)
I hope that this overview and our crossing of a huge milestone piques your interest and you take a gander through some of the many rabbit holes the Thinky Games Database contains these days. The games are interesting, it's ever-expanding and informative, and I guarantee that somewhere deep in there are some gems you have yet to be introduced to. Who knows, one could be your next favorite game...
