Developer Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital made a big announcement this week: the third and final game in the Talos Principle series (not counting one remake) is on its way, and the first-person robot puzzling series appears to be going cosmic for the first time.
If you haven't kept up with the world of puzzle games in the last decade or so, I suppose there's a chance you may not have heard of these games, but their success and popularity has taken them far out of the thinky-puzzle niche and into the mainstream. The Talos Principle was a renaissance for fans of big production, first-person puzzle franchises like Portal, giving the high-end graphics treatment to their world of robots and lasers and physics. Talos 2 followed in 2023, continuing the grand philosophical narrative, and just last year in 2025 we got a big expanded remaster of the original game.
Now, only a few years out from the last major installment in the story, The Talos Principle 3 has been revealed with an estimated release window of "next year." The first trailer is just a bare-minimum teaser for now, letting us know the game is coming and not much else. The Steam page and the news post about the announcement give us some scant details and visuals, but we'll have to wait until further along in the development to dig into the meat of the new game.
What we do know is: they're telling us all over that this is indeed the Final Chapter of the series. I applaud anyone who resists the urge to drag a popular franchise on forever until it's lost all integrity, so I respect the choice to create a concrete and definitive ending, and it'll be interesting to see what Croteam gets up to when their golden child is finally behind them.
We know that the new game will take place in The Anomoly, a mysterious location where "the laws of physics don't work as they should."

In addition to the new puzzle mechanics, veteran writing team and music composition that we've come to expect, it's pretty clear that Talos 3 will for (almost) the first time take the series in a cosmic direction, traveling to other fictional worlds among the stars. Various screenshots and the Steam description give us hints at strange alien environments and terraformed planets that will give intriguing new backdrops to our self-contained puzzle box levels.
