Season 2 of Thinky Dailies is now over! It’s pretty wild to think that if you were starting Thinky Dailies today, you’d have over 120 handcrafted puzzles to solve, for free, right there in the palm of your hand.
During season 2, we've had a few exciting things happening behind the scenes. Martin Ender, who was already designing some of the puzzles, is now writing the rules and hints for all the puzzles, which you'll have noticed has been such great improvement. You may also have noticed the narrative started to get a whole lot better halfway through the season - that's because Philippa Warr joined the team part way through, and she’ll be leading the narrative for season 3.
In this season, we had the chance to polish the feel of some puzzles. For example, our Akari puzzles actually light up the cells when you place a lightbulb and the crosses of Hamiltonian Plumbers are much more readable now. While we need our interface to support pretty much every puzzle genre, we'd love to keep adding little features like these that improve the feel of the game.
Speaking of puzzle genres, Thinky Dailies has now featured over 30 types! The variety in Thinky Dailies is really what makes it special, and we love hearing which kinds of puzzles people love (and sometimes hate!). The incredible community around Thinky Dailies is such a big highlight for us - those who kindly help others in discord, report issues, and make us laugh with posts like this:
We're taking another month-long break between seasons to catch our breath, prepare new puzzles for the future, and implement a few more improvements. We are a small team after all and making a daily game, especially with this amount of handcrafted content, takes quite a lot of time. It’s also an opportunity for new players to catch up with our ever-growing puzzle collection. We really appreciate your patience - we're just as excited as you are to see what happens next season!
Just to note: last time we took a break we did a couple of intermission puzzles. We won’t be doing that this time, just so we can fully focus on the production for season 3. We are still experimenting with the structure, so they might return at some point. If you missed the intermissions from last time though, here you go:
Anyway, thank you all so much for playing Thinky Dailies and being part of our community. We can't wait to share all the exciting things we've got planned for our upcoming seasons.
See you for season 3, Solvers!
