A recurring community event has been announced for late June this year: the Thinky Puzzle Game Jam is a celebration of the genre we love, born out of the online puzzle community, and it's returning for its 5th year running.
Hosted by our friend Dom Camus of the Thinky Puzzle Games Discord (our sister-server with lots of overlap) you can join in for a week of puzzle-jamming from June 20th to the 29th, or just wait till July to enjoy a big batch of freshly brewed games.
The jam uses a very relaxed schedule: you have a little over a week to work on your submission, but the idea is to spend no more than 48 hours total. So whatever couple of days works best for you (or if you want to break it up a few hours at a time) participation can happen on your schedule. There are also no prizes or rankings, as this is intended to be a very community-oriented event: it's more about communal motivation to make some cool stuff rather than competition.
After the 4th jam last year the team picked a bunch of games we particularly enjoyed to showcase: you can read about our favorites here, which might give you a feel for the scope of the jam and what to aim for. If you want my advice, it's always a good idea to shoot for making something playable in-browser, so that a download-only barrier doesn't stop potential players. PuzzleScript is a very popular free tool lots of people use to easily make little puzzle webgames.
You can find more info about the jam and sign up on the itch.io page, where the optional (and always playful) theme will be announced when the event starts on June 20th. See you there!
