Factory Balls, a game about using all manner of odd tools to paint spheres in specific patterns, was a big hit in the Flash era of the internet. After its big expanded re-release in 2019, (and a little Halloween spin-off) the game is getting an all-new sequel next month.
After watching the trailer, it just sort of makes sense: such a simple and quirky design really has the feel of a Flash game concept.
You're working on the assembly line, and this factory only wants to produce balls of particular colors and designs. Dipping them into various paint buckets and making use of many household objects to obscure the paint in negative-space patterns is your main method of achieving the desired results. It seems that applying appendages (arms and legs) and other costume pieces will be one of the big new additions to the formula this time around.
Developer Bart Bonte has been around in the gamedev scene for a long time now, starting back in the days when browser games made in the now-defunct Flash software dominated online spaces, moving into a prolific career in mobile puzzle games and now and then porting some of the bigger ones over to Steam. He also frequently logs and writes about some of his favorite webgames he plays over on his website.
Factory Balls Go! will be releasing on Steam on April 20th, and as with many of Bart's games it will also be available for free with ads on mobile platforms.
