Expose a crime syndicate through four additional Golden Idol cases.
Golden Idol Investigations - The Sins of New Wells is a detective game DLC that expands The Rise of the Golden Idol. The puzzles are presented as fill-in-the-blanks descriptions of illustrated cases, with precise solutions to deduce out of thousands of combinations. This first DLC takes place shortly after the events of Rise, adding four new cases told through the eyes of Detective Roy Samson.
As in the base game, The Sins of New Wells contains several point-and-click vignettes which display confounding situations. You navigate the vignettes in search of clues and meaning, collecting relevant names and words in the process. Once you feel comfortable enough about explaining the events, you use the collected words to complete fill-in-the-blanks solution sheets. A gradual hint system is also included with each scenario.
The four cases from this DLC focus on the dealings of a crime syndicate. Secondary character Roy Samson returns from Rise and tries to make sense of the shady activities occurring in the district. The story eventually finds its place within the Idol lore, tying some loose ends about fugitive Echo Secunda.
Each case’s difficulty has been met with varying reactions. This will be influenced by your familiarity with crime tropes and your reaction to unexpectedly disarranged deduction setups.
