If you're a puzzle game fan, odds are you're familiar with the philosophy-talking, laser-manipulating robots of The Talos Principle franchise. The 2nd game in the series released late last year with a big 3-part DLC expansion earlier this year. Now Croteam is back, announcing The Talos Principle: Reawakened: a definitive and completely remastered new version of the game that kicked off the series.
The big features being advertised for this very pretty overhaul of the original game are:
- A world completely remade with updated graphics using Unreal Engine 5
- Includes the expansion Road to Gehenna as well as a new chapter: In the Beginning
- Extensive developer commentary audio
- A versatile puzzle editor intended to empower the modding community
The updated visuals shown off in the trailer are impressive: Talos already felt like a gorgeous game, and this remaster looks to bring it in line with the next generation graphically. In their news broadcast about the new game, Croteam states they "love this game and while the original version is admittedly still pretty awesome, we wanted to create a definitive version that will keep the game fresh for years to come and allow a whole new audience to explore the Simulation."
No release date has yet been revealed for the big remaster, but you can wishlist it on Steam now, and to coincide with this announcement Devolver and Croteam are running a big franchise sale: you can get both games for a bundled 70% discount, or the Deluxe Edition of Talos 2 for 44% off.
