The newest game from expert puzzle-makers Draknek & Friends arrives on April 15th

Corey Hardt, 4 April 2025

The latest outing of Draknek's ever-present monster is just around the corner: a release date less than 2 weeks away (April 15th) was just announced for the new bite-sized puzzle game The Electrifying Incident.

We've guided this protagonist through several past adventures: A Good Snowman is Hard to Build and A Monster's Expedition to name a few. Now we'll be following them into a mysterious science-y lab environment where they'll be using their extendable robot-arm to interact with electric puzzles and stop the impending reactor meltdown.

The new release features the subtitle "A Monster Mini-Expedition", referring to the short expected runtime of this comparatively smaller game: something like 1-2 hours is the advertised length. (But I have to wonder what level of puzzling expertise they're assuming when estimating that runtime... I've found past games tend to last me quite some time as I slowly stumble my way into solutions.)

Could this potentially be the first of a series of "mini-expeditions" the monster will take us on? I don't have any insider info about future plans, but it feels like a pretty reasonable guess. Certainly Draknek has no shortage of old PuzzleScript prototypes that could potentially be beautified into more miniature commercial releases.

The Electrifying Incident will be released on both itch.io and Steam on April 15th. If you check out the Steam page you can of course wishlist the game to be notified of the launch, but there's also a demo available if a week is just too long to wait.
