In the last year or two we've seen quite a few games bearing "years of anticipation" status finally delivered to audiences, and now Tactical Breach Wizards will join the growing list.
This turn-based tactics battler featuring quirky, spell-slinging squad members recently announced a release date of August 22nd alongside a new trailer showing off how far the game has come since development began almost 7 years ago. The trailer, which you can watch below, showcases the comedic, doesn't-take-itself-too-seriously attitude that seems very central to the game's identity:
Breach Wizards has you heading a ragtag crew of misfits and renegades, using their unique abilities as often as their weapons to push around enemies, take out threats and cause chaos with carefully planned environmental interactions. The campaign story is advertised as being 8-10 hours long, and there's a pretty new demo available on Steam for a sample of what's to come.
One of the most intriguing talking points is the concept of giving players unlimited rewinds and do-overs, something we're much more used to seeing in pure puzzle games rather than tactics/strategy types. Tactical Breach Wizards encourages players to "try every wild idea you have," which I must admit does sound pretty fun.
The industry-veteran minds behind Breach Wizards are Tom Francis and the Suspicious Developments team, who previously developed Gunpoint and Heat Signature, both well-received tactical games in which you plan out series of moves before executing them.
Tactical Breach Wizards will be available August 22nd on Steam, where you can wishlist it or check out the demo now.
