December 1st is a very exciting day: it marks the opening of the first little door in a month-long advent calendar of puzzle games, The Confounding Calendar. This is a community game-making event that I organize and run every year, and all November long I've been collecting puzzles that will now slowly be released, one day at a time, over the course of the month.
We make it as easy as possible to participate and enjoy the games: every game is playable in-browser and will appear right on the Calendar homepage for easy access. They're also very compact, so you can fit them into any little gaps you find in your days this month. Every game must be only 1 screen or level — think bite-size puzzle surprises rather than full commercial products.
The first game is already up on the page for today, something very cute to start things off. My hope is that this showcase of community creativity will be a fun little treat in your December, where you can check in and spend a few minutes playing something new and surprising.
Thanks to everyone who made and submitted games this year: as always, the Calendar would be nothing without such a warm and wide community embracing it. And thanks to you if you hang out and play some games this month. We'll be discussing them each day over on our Discord.
