The long-awaited sequel to Breath of the Wild finally has a real title and a release date — introducing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, coming to Nintendo Switch on 12th May 2023 (thank goodness they didn't just call it Breath of the Wild 2). Check out the new trailer:
While I know the Zelda games will never be pure puzzle games, as a fan of thinky games who grew up with the Zelda series, there's always part of me that hopes they'll lean heavy on the puzzles. It was some of the early Game Boy games that really ignited my love of puzzles in the first place! Breath of the Wild had some great shrines and the divine beasts had some really interesting ideas going on, but the puzzles all felt a little disconnected and underexplored to me. I'm curious to see if they'll change that up here. At the very least, I have no doubt that exploring the now floating islands of Hyrule will reveal a host of secrets and breath-taking discoveries.
Either way, I'm excited to play this next iteration of the series in May next year!
