Solve five new Golden Idol cases in The Lemurian Phoenix DLC, out today

Corey Hardt, 13 May 2025

The latest expansion of new mysteries for the hit detective game The Rise of the Golden Idol has arrived today on consoles and PC, and things look to be taking a ritualistic turn. Golden Idol Investigations: The Lemurian Phoenix is the second installment in a series of DLCs that each bring with them several new cases, settings and storylines to the familiar world.

Looks to me like some religious/mystical themes are taking front seat this time around, and even (very excitingly) some decrypting of runic symbol languages. Here's some of the description from Phoenix's Steam page:

Amidst the Lemurian aristocracy's extravagant holiday celebrations, a murder ignites a complex conspiracy that reaches back to 1910. Return to the scene of the crime and uncover the truth. As technology fades, spirituality flourishes. Charismatic gurus rise to power, drawing loyal followers with their divine messages. But even those of higher power have their flaws and can’t be relied upon to act morally. Under this reign those who sin face severe consequences.

It certainly all sounds dramatic! Perfect for some murder-mystery intrigue.

The previous DLC released for Rise of the Golden Idol was The Sins of New Wells, which featured a much more gritty, noir atmosphere, with cases centered around drugs and organized crime activity taking place in a corruption-laden city.

The Lemurian Phoenix is out today on Steam, Playstation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. You can buy the DLC individually or purchase a "Detective Pass" at a discounted price if you plan on playing all four of them. And if you have a Netflix subscription, Rise and all of its DLC content are free to play on mobile devices.
