The 2023 World Sudoku and Puzzle Championships (WSPC) is an annual event organized by the World Puzzle Federation (WPF), bringing together the world’s best paper puzzle solvers. This year, the WSPC will be held in Toronto, Canada on the 15th of October and is open to all WPF member nations and individual WPF members.
Both individuals and teams will need to pay a set fee listed on the WSPC 2023 website, and it will cover lodging, airport transfer, meals, and entry to the program. It’s sure to be a fun and exciting 3-day event, with this being the 30th World Championship and the 16th World Sudoku Championship (WSC).
Teams and individuals will all be solving in a single hall, and each event is timed. This event is purely competitive, and individual members from non-member nations can register as an official individual competitor (with an additional €50 fee if they are not a registered WPF member) or join the United Nations team with other unaffiliated members for team events.
Last year’s puzzles included variations of classic paper puzzle types like Araf and Snake, as well as puzzles built around certain themes (eg. Nightmare in Cracow, which was based on the event location Kraków). WSPC 2022 featured creations by beloved members of the puzzle games community, including designs by Hempuli and Menderbug. Here’s hoping we see more this year.
If this sounds up your alley, registration is open until 1st September, and you can visit the official WSPC 2023 website for more details.
