Announced a few months ago, Escape Simulator 2 debuted a new Steam demo last week alongside a new gameplay trailer. You can likely guess much of what's in store: solving puzzles in 3D environments dressed up in various themes, either with friends or solo, and optionally crafting your own to share online with the fully featured editor.
These trailers for the upcoming sequel show off a leap in visual fidelity, giving us a look at spaces and settings with a higher level of detail and polish than those of the first game. Some scenes look familiar, like a typical gothic manor and a sci-fi space station, while others I don't remember from my (admittedly relatively limited) experience with the first Escape Simulator, including a pirate ship being attacked by a massive kraken.
The series has built a reputation for itself as the go-to choice for playing and making escape-room style puzzles with friends online. Each game includes several different ready-to-play puzzle levels, but much of the draw is the massive number of free custom maps that have been designed by the large Steam community around the game. The first entry also boasts an impressive number of DLC expansions, both paid and free, including official crossovers with Portal and The Talos Principle.
Escape Simulator 2 is coming soon to Steam where you can find the new demo available for download now.
