Jingle Jam is an annual internet fundraiser that describes itself as "the world's biggest games charity event" and judging by the donation numbers they're achieving (over £1,600,000 as of writing this) it might well be true. Here's a description of the event from their homepage:
From 1-14 December, hundreds of creators and gamers across the world stream, create content, and beyond to fundraise for Jingle Jam's partnered charities and their vital projects: from protecting whales, dolphins, and the rainforest, to funding cancer research, suicide prevention, and beyond.
Viewers show their support by donating, and in return, receive a copy of the unique Jingle Jam Games Collection.
There are 18 games up for grabs if you donate £35 or more (around $45) and a majority of the collection are popular commercial releases. There's no doubt that the total value of these games is many times that price if you were to pick them up at any other time on Steam. (Plus, all of your money is going to great causes.)
Here are some of the big thinky inclusions that stood out to me:
- Patrick's Parabox
- Wildfrost
- Shadows of Doubt
- For the King II
- Mars First Logistics
- Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers
- Fights in Tight Spaces
- Submachine: Legacy
- Hadean Tactics
Plus a bunch of other big titles like Scorn, Frost Punk, Orcs Must Die 3 and Two Point Campus. It definitely feels like a bundle that could keep you busy for quite some time.
Jingle Jam is very transparent about what your donation is going towards, and they have a page detailing the work that each of this year's selected charities are doing. Helping children & younger people is an area of focus for the event, and making an impact in these areas is their stated mission:
- Inclusion of neurodivergent, disabled, LGBT+ and diverse young people.
- Improving the mental and physical health of young people.
- Support for young people affected by global events including poverty, disasters, epidemics or conflicts.
- Safeguarding the future of the planet for young people, by combating climate change and protecting animal welfare.
They all sound like admirable goals, and causes I'm happy to have a very easy way to be involved with: getting a bunch of good games for cheap. A very win-win situation if you ask me. The games bundle deal runs until December 14th, and you can donate now to get your codes on the Jingle Jam campaign page.
