The Rise of the Golden Idol is the much-anticipated sequel to the hit detective/mystery game that came out of nowhere in 2022 and took the community by storm, and it's launching tomorrow, November 12th. Ahead of the game's release, developer Color Gray Games has made a big exciting announcement: they'll be doing their best to make sure you never run out of cases to solve in the months to come.
In a big roadmap and pricing update, the studio has revealed plans to publish at least four DLC chapters they're calling "Investigations" throughout 2025. Perhaps one of the most exciting details in the announcement is that each Investigation will consist of multiple new cases ("at least four" is their exact phrasing) meaning that all four DLCs combined will very likely stack up to about the same size as the base game, which is releasing with 20 scenarios.
Here's a big infographic from the announcement, giving a rough timeline they're aiming for:
We can see that so far only the first DLC chapter is described in any detail: "The Sins of New Wells" will feature drugs, organized crime and ancient magic. Sign me up! It's a very exciting prospect that all the way through next year we'll be looking forward to regular installments of this fan favorite sleuthing series.
The Rise of the Golden Idol debuts tomorrow on Steam, where it will be available with a 10% launch discount for the first week.
