Our friends at Wholesome Games love to showcase all games cute, relaxing, colorful and feel-good, which means we have plenty of overlap in the area of "games that let you take your time." Their big Steam Celebration just kicked off, featuring lots of discounts, demos and new game reveals, starting with a new Wholesome Direct video presentation where they unveiled a bunch of announcements. Here are some puzzle-adjacent picks we've pulled from the mix.
First up is a list of games I found perusing the sale for strategy or puzzle-like offerings that are currently discounted. Many of these we've featured on the site or in the database before, and others are new to us. The list starts with Is This Seat Taken?, a game being published by Wholesome themselves which just released yesterday at the start of the event.
- Is This Seat Taken? (10% off) (Thinky DB)
- Terra Nil (60% off)
- Townframe (25% off) (Thinky DB)
- Paper Trail (70% off) (Thinky DB)
- Squeakross: Home Squeak Home (10% off) (Thinky DB)
- Botany Manor (30% off) (Thinky DB)
- Wingspan (50% off)
- Projected Dreams (20% off) (Thinky DB)
- Preserve (25% off)
Next I want to give a little shout-out to a neat looking exploration-metroidvania that has wonderfully charming vibes as well as a mysterious and intriguing air about it. Monomoon was just announced during the Wholesome Direct yesterday, and the description uses the term "metroidbrania" and advertises "layers of secrets, ranging from simple puzzles to cryptic mysteries and hidden game mechanics." My interest has certainly been piqued.
Finally I have another little list of thinky-looking games that are featured in the Celebration as either upcoming releases with new announcements or because they have fresh demos available to check out now:
- Monomoon (trailer above)
- Elfie: A Sand Plan (demo available)
- Ambroise Niflette & the Gleaned Bell
- Star Birds (demo available)
- Flamecraft
- Pakinpaks (demo available)
- Lost Twins 2 (demo available)
Browse all the deals, news and demos in the Wholesome Games Celebration on Steam, running from now until August 14th. Tell 'em Thinky Games sent ya. And if you find a bunch of interesting offerings we missed, come tell us all about them on discord.
