A remaster of the detective game that took the community by storm last year has been on the horizon for a while, and now we have a date to mark on the calendar: the new and improved version will launch on January 15th, 2025.
If you haven't played The Roottrees are Dead but like the sound of an intricate family-tree detective mystery, maybe take that day off, because this is a game that can easily suck you in for a while. Here's the new updated trailer:
Roottrees puts you in the role of a sleuth hired to dig through myriad family photos, news archives, internet databases and more in order to piece together the mysterious legacy of this fictional high-profile family. You'll slowly assemble a family tree piece by piece as the carefully interconnected breadcrumb trail of sources leads you deeper into their past.
The new remastered version of the game coming to Steam boasts all-new hand drawn artwork (replacing lots of AI-generated imagery used in the game jam version), voice acting, interface improvements and something called "Roottreemania" which is apparently a whole new mystery featuring a second family tree.
You can wishlist the remaster of The Roottrees are Dead on Steam now to be notified when it releases early next year on January 15th.
