Lead your wizarding crew through puzzly tactical challenges, rewinding at will.
Tactical Breach Wizards is a turn-based tactics game about leading a renegade band of magic users on special ops missions. You must maneuver your team around small grid-based maps and make use of their special skills and attacks to take out enemies and complete objectives. Complex, puzzle-like combat scenarios, likeable characters, and an intriguing plot all keep the game engaging.
On each mission, a party of 2 to 6 wizards must breach the door to a facility and complete a set of objectives, such as taking out all the hostiles, blocking doors to prevent reinforcements, and getting the party to a waypoint. Each wizard has a unique set of abilities. Some deal direct damage, while others push or pull characters, weaken enemies, or divert.
Combining your abilities into powerful synergies is an important part of the strategy. However, if you make a mistake, or if you feel like your last move begs for an optimization, you can always rewind your actions and try something new. Note that the environment also plays an important role, allowing characters to take cover behind obstacles or push enemies out windows.
Between missions, characters level up, unlocking upgrades and new abilities that can have a major impact on your strategy. There are also dream missions that take place inside the characters’ heads, which feature more puzzle-based scenarios and unlock special abilities when completed.
The characters are a motley team of scrappy underdogs, including a disgraced special-ops agent, a storm witch, and a necromancer doctor. They are entwined in a plot of international intrigue, told through bantering cutscenes before and after each mission. Occasional short logic-based scenes require players to connect different people and locations with pushpins and string. For players who are just there for the tactics, all the cutscenes and dream scenarios are skippable.
The main campaign is of moderate length, about 20 hours to play through. And for players who would find the base campaign too easy, characters also have bonus objectives for each mission, which allow you to unlock new outfits.
