Connect all shapes with interlocking lines over soothing sounds.
Lyne is a line-drawing puzzle game where you connect abstract shapes according to simple rules. For instance, all triangles must be connected with a single path, and all diamonds with another path, and the two paths can only cross under specific conditions. The game offers hundreds of puzzles but keeps with a pared-down set of rules, aiming for relaxing minimalism first and foremost.
Each level is a graph-like grid of shapes, with usually two or three distinct kinds of shapes. The shapes are color-coded, but colorblind players can still rely on shape outlines to differentiate between them. Each type includes two highlighted shapes, and you should find a path which starts from one such shape, goes through every similar shape, and ends on the remaining highlighted shape.
In the very first levels, lines between shapes cannot cross each other. Soon enough though, Lyne introduces special octagon pieces where distinct lines can meet and continue in separate directions. Dots over each octagon tell you exactly how many lines must cross each other at this node in order to clear the level. Many puzzles are designed around finding the paths that will hit as many octagon pieces as possible.
The pre-built puzzles come in multiple sets of 25, which are unlocked more or less one by one. The game also includes daily releases of new procedurally-generated levels. Lyne does not introduce new rules past its first sets though, so while the puzzles are numerous, they may end up feeling somewhat repetitive. It's more of a game to help you unwind, with straightforward mechanics and sleeky-soft design.
