Draw hidden paths in this short but surprising puzzler.
Linelith is a brief line-drawing puzzle game about a skittery little creature solving puzzles on the rocks of a minimally-rendered asteroid. Clearing the puzzles involves drawing lines over the blocks and the environment around you. Although the game is quite short, it comes up with an enjoyable amount of secrets and surprises.
The core gameplay of Linelith revolves around using your mouse to draw twisting lines over a grid-based 2D rocky world. Note that the suffix -lith means “rock” or “stone”, so the premise is very much contained in the title! If one of the lines you trace fulfils certain logical conditions, then a satisfying animation will confirm that you just solved a puzzle.
However, you’ll have to figure out these conditions on your own. The game features almost no verbal instruction, and most of the fun resides in discovering how it works. And even though Linelith may appear unassuming, it does have a surprising number of tricks up its sleeve!
Linelith is imbued with minimalistic design, so you won’t find story elements or non-puzzle mechanics in it. It’s rather brief—some players could complete it in a single sitting. There’s even a puzzle counter displayed in the corner of the screen, so you can easily track your progress and reach that sweet 100% completion.
The game can be purchased independently, but it was actually released as part of the CosmOS 9 bundle, a collection of nine space-themed thinky games from indie developers.
