COCOON, the world bending puzzle game from Geometric Interactive, is out now

COCOON is a world-altering, mind-bending puzzle game from Jeppe Carlsen, the lead gameplay designer of LIMBO and INSIDE, and it’s out today.

COCOON is a puzzle adventure game with a very unique twist that gives it a distinct gameplay loop. In the game, players control a beetle-like creature exploring a world where entirely different worlds exist within orbs scattered throughout the environment. These orbs each have distinct settings and puzzles inside, and players can jump in and out of these worlds and manipulate various elements, combine them, or rearrange parts, all of which play a role in solving the game’s intricately layered puzzles.

If you watch any gameplay footage, it will likely make your brain melt a bit at first. It’s clear there’s a lot of clever design on display here: the puzzles and obstacles look to be incredibly diverse and varied, and the world leaping ability opens up so many possibilities.

On top of that, you can carry world orbs on your back, taking them with you when you move between layers of reality. Each orb also has abilities that add even more puzzling potential, such as revealing secrets, triggering switches, or firing projectiles, all of which expand your toolset for interacting with the environment.

You’ll explore diverse biomes with plenty to discover and solve a cosmic mystery as you journey through the game’s many worlds and battle its Guardians, bosses that will have new mechanics for each battle that make them unique.
